Kindness… Pass it On
What the world needs now.
This has been quite a week filled with late nights, early mornings (thank you puppies), diet dilemmas and an inauguration. If ever there was a week that needed wine this was it! Yes, I mentioned the word inauguration, but before you pop a cork and stop reading I am definitely NOT going to get political. I have more important things to do with my time such as chase a puppy that is pulling a piece toilet paper from the roll all over the house — doesn’t she know toilet paper is gold around here!
I Remember the good ol’ days when people knew not to talk about politics or religion in a public forum. Aww…I miss those days. Only your family called you an “el stupido” for saying what you thought instead of some “friend” on social media. It was a kinder, gentler, dare I say, more reasonable time. Somewhere along the way we forgot to be kind humans.
Now I’m the first to say that people can be annoying (well not you — you are my favorite people) but other people in general. That being said, shouldn’t we at least be kind to those idiots too? When my husband gets annoying (like at this very moment) I just pour another glass of wine and nod in agreement to whatever he is saying. This is called being kind. He is happy so I am happy. Problem solved.
Granted everyone can’t go around pouring themselves glasses of wine when people irritate them (or can they??) but a simple smile will go far. Maybe when someone says something you don’t agree with on social media instead of getting your panties in a bunch how about you just send a smile emoji? The other person is happy because they think you agree with them and you are “smiling” because you know what they are saying is ridiculous. Everybody wins and you stay friends.
Just like this nice red blend reminds us to be positive and try to make this world a better place so should you. So when that guy in the crosswalk is walking at a snail’s pace looking at his phone, instead of yelling at him to hurry up - take a deep breath and smile. You don’t know what’s going on in his life. Maybe he is so focused on his phone because he is punching in the codes to save us all from a nuclear attack! And that woman that can’t find the gas pedal on the freeway perhaps her car really doesn’t have a gas pedal so she is doing the best she can given her circumstances.
Life is hard so why make it harder by getting upset because people aren’t doing what you want or the election didn’t turn out like you hoped. A smile or a kind word will go a long way. Don’t take things so seriously. We are all just doing our best to get through the day. So relax, take a breath, pour yourself a nice red blend, and pass on a little kindness when you can.
